Photograph, 35mm Negative and Slide Scanning

Plustek 8200I Negative and Slide Digitizer

We use high-resolution (3600-7200 DPI) film scanners designed specifically for 35mm negatives and slides, as well as dedicated photo scanners capable of outputting at 300-1200 DPI depending on need.

For photographs, your pictures will be scanned at either 300 DPI for standard use, social media, and non-enlarged printing, 600 DPI for professional enlargements, or 1200 DPI for archival purposes. Your photos should be organized by size and oriented properly. It has been found that sorting after scanning is easier on the customer, rather than having you sort them before sending them in for scanning.

For slides and negatives, the scanning process begins by placing the film into a dedicated holder, which ensures flatness and precise alignment. The holder is then inserted into the scanner, where a powerful LED light source and a 7200 dpi optical sensor capture each frame with exceptional detail.

Our slide and negative scanners include an infrared channel, which works in conjunction with our specialized software and enables iSRD (Infrared Smart Removal of Defects) to automatically detect and remove dust and scratches without damaging the slide or negative itself. The software also utilizes Multi-Exposure technology to increase dynamic range, capturing more shadow and highlight detail.

After scanning, the software allows for advanced adjustments in color correction, sharpening, and tonal balance. The final output is a high-quality digital image, ideal for archiving, editing, or printing, preserving the full resolution and richness of the original 35mm film.
